Capita plan to axe 1000 jobs in NHS deal shows outsourcing to private companies makes no economic sense

Dr Clive Peedell,  co-leader of the National Health Action Party, reaction  to news that private company Capita is planning to cut nearly 1000 jobs when it takes on a £1bn contract to supply administrative support to the NHS:

"This is yet more proof that handing NHS contracts to private companies makes no economic sense. The pursuit of private profit inevitably means staff cuts increasing the welfare bill and reducing spending power in local economies.  Meanwhile this goverment's ideological obsession with reducing the role of the state in delivering key public services gathers pace."
