Breaking news: following Boris Johnson's resignation from the 'Brexit cabinet', we are told that Jeremy Hunt has been shuffled into the Foreign Secretary role and will be replaced as Health Secretary by Matt Hancock.
Conservative policy has stifled effective health and social care provision for nearly a decade. We know very well that it isn't just Jeremy Hunt who is to blame for crippling the NHS, but we won't miss his apologism, making bogus statistical claims including the classic one about seven day working. Anyone who thinks he can pick a fight with greats like Marmot and Hawking, and thinks he'll win, is probably not the man the NHS needs. We hope Hunt's successor will recognise the need for evidence-based policy on healthcare, social care, and the social determinants of health.
We're proud to have stood up to Jeremy Hunt at the general election last year. We hope he'll remember one statistic in particular: the 12,093 local residents who voted for NHA's Dr Louise Irvine in SW Surrey.
